Paul Mayer Senior Vice President, Corporate Development

Paul Mayer is senior vice president of corporate development. He oversees corporate planning, acquisitions, government relations and the Sallie Mae Bank. In addition, he oversees the Upromise, the Sallie Mae Home Loans, Business Office Solutions and partnership marketing lines of business.

Before joining Sallie Mae in 2001, he had 13 years in management consulting, focused on business strategy and organization.

Previously, Mr. Mayer was a partner at Towers Perrin and vice president at Alliance Consulting Group in Boston, Mass.

He earned a bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Mr. Mayer serves on the board of directors of the Wakefield School in The Plains, Va.
