Sallie Mae and its Pennsylvania employees are generous with their time and money.
Employees at our Wilkes-Barre, Pa., servicing center are integrally involved in the community, and play key roles in philanthropic initiatives throughout Pennsylvania. Sallie Mae employees in Wilkes-Barre, through The Sallie Mae Fund, sponsor and support numerous annual charitable events, working with organizations like Junior Achievement, the March of Dimes, United Way, The Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, American Heart Association and Commission on Economic Opportunity.
In 2005 alone, the employees of our Wilkes-Barre servicing center sponsored or volunteered in over 20 different philanthropic initiatives in Pennsylvania, including:

- Golf tournament to benefit Luzerne County Head Start
- Support "Newspaper in Education" program for the Citizen's Voice and The Times Leader
- "Reading is Fundamental" at Hanover Area School District and Wilkes-Barre Area School District
