PLUS loan borrowers who are not eligible on the basis of their own credit may become PLUS eligible with a creditworthy endorser.

 

The endorser must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen. The endorser is responsible for repaying the PLUS loan if the primary borrower does not.

Checklist for endorsing a Federal PLUS loan

To endorse a Federal PLUS loan by completing an Endorser Addendum to the Federal PLUS loan Master Promissory Note, please have the following information on hand:

Endorser information

  1. Social Security number
  2. Driver’s license state and number
  3. Employer contact information
  4. Information for two references

Borrower information

  1. Social Security number
  2. Date of birth
  3. System-assigned ID

Student information

  1. Social Security number
