Loans for international students studying in the United States
Sallie Mae has student loans for foreign nationals studying in the United States.
Sallie Mae International offers several student loan programs for students:
- who are not U.S. citizens and
- who are attending a U.S. college of university in short-term study abroad programs or full-time enrollment, toward a full degree.
The Signature Student loan is a privately insured, credit-based loan. As a foreign student, you may apply for a Signature Student loan if you:
- Are enrolled at least half-time at a four- or five-year college or university approved by the U.S. Department of Education; and
- Are working on an undergraduate or graduate degree; and
- Have an eligible U.S. cosigner who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
With an MBA LOANS Private Loan, you can finance the entire cost of your graduate business education.
As an international student, you must apply with an eligible U.S. citizen or non-citizen permanent resident cosigner.
You may apply for the MBA LOANS Private Loan if you're enrolled — even on a less-than-half-time basis — in an approved graduate business program, including business administration, marketing, accounting, executive MBA, etc. Check with your school to see if it participates.
With a LAWLOANS Private Loan you can finance the entire cost of your graduate law education.
As an international student, you must apply with an eligible U.S. citizen or non-citizen permanent resident cosigner.
If you are enrolled at least half time in an ABA-approved graduate law program at a participating university in the United States, you may apply for the LAWLOANS Private Loan. Please check with your school to see if it participates.
Non-U.S. citizens and non-permanent residents attending school outside the U.S. are not eligible for Sallie Mae loan products.
