    Grad PLUS loans are federally sponsored loans for independent students attending graduate school. Any student attending graduate school is eligible to apply for a Graduate PLUS loan. Graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply for both subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Stafford loans before applying for a Graduate PLUS.
