Charles P. Rocha
Charles P. Rocha is Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Sallie Mae.
In this role, he oversees product development, sales, marketing, and communications for Sallie Mae’s consumer businesses, including private education loans, retail banking, and the Upromise by Sallie Mae college savings and rewards program.
As parents of four daughters, my wife and I have lived the save, plan, and pay for college experience. We wanted to help our daughters get into school so they’d be set up for future success. That included choosing the right schools for what they wanted to do and being sure that they got value out of their educations. I have learned from personal experience how challenging this process can be and am committed to providing tools to make it easier.
Charlie has more than 20 years of commercial and consumer lending experience. Prior to Sallie Mae, he was responsible for strategic planning and profitability for U.S. card, consumer finance, and small business lending at Bank of America. Charlie also held various business development, credit, and collections management roles in consumer lending at MBNA America, and he spent 10 years at NationsBank in various leadership positions in retail finance and leasing.
Charlie holds a bachelor’s degree in international economics and finance from Georgetown University.
