Mark L. Heleen Executive Vice President and General Counsel

Mark L. Heleen is executive vice president and general counsel. He oversees the company’s legal work.

He joined Sallie Mae in 1998 and has held responsibility for all legal matters for the financing and derivative transactions of the company.

Previously, Heleen worked as an attorney for PNC Bank and Tucker Arensberg, PC in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Mr. Heleen obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Bucknell University and a J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
