Michael (Mike) E. Sheehan Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Mike Sheehan is senior vice president and general counsel. He oversees all of the company’s legal work.

Previously, he managed corporate finance transactions, served an integral role in the company’s mergers and acquisitions activities and served as securities lawyer on SEC filings and disclosure issues.

Before joining Sallie Mae in 1992, Mr. Sheehan was an associate attorney of the corporate finance group for Venable, Baetjer and Howard, a leading national law firm.

Mr. Sheehan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, with distinction in all subjects, Phi Beta Kappa, from Cornell University and a J.D. degree with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
