Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

The ACG award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award. Students must submit a FAFSA to apply for this grant.

An ACG provides up to $750 for the first year of undergraduate study and up to $1,300 for the second year of undergraduate study to full-time students who are U.S. citizens, eligible for a federal Pell Grant, and who had successfully completed a rigorous high school program, as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education. Second year students must also have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Eligibility

To receive an ACG, you must:

  • be Pell Grant-eligible during the same award year;
  • be enrolled at least half-time;
  • be a first-year or second-year undergraduate student
    or a student in a certificate program of at least one year
    in a degree program at a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution;
  • have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study; and
  • if you are first-year student, you completed secondary school after January 1, 2006; not have been enrolled in ACG-eligible program while at or below age of compulsory school attendance; or
  • if a second-year student, you completed secondary school after January 1, 2005 and have at least a 3.0 grade point average as of the end of the first year of undergraduate study
