No matter your education or career goals, it's helpful to begin preparing early. Sometimes, depending on what you want to do, you may need to prepare as early as high school or middle school.

Juniors

Plan campus visits.

Make a list of at least 10 institutions you could attend.

Estimate how much various colleges will cost.

Seniors

College acceptance and financial aid award letters start coming in.

Watch for your Student Aid Report (SAR). Carefully review it — a mistake could mean missing out on funding.

If there are special circumstances affecting your family’s financial situation, discuss them with the financial aid office.

If you're selected for verification, just provide the documents they request.
