A valuable partner for schools

Sallie Mae partners with more than 3,800 higher education institutions across the country. We invest millions of dollars annually in technology and programs that help colleges and universities deliver the financial aid programs that provide students with access to a higher education.

Technology

Sallie Mae invests more than $200 million every year developing the technology to support the student loan industry and our services.

OpenNet, our loan delivery system, speeds the delivery process for federal and private student loans. This innovative Web portal, used at 3,425 campuses nationwide, lets schools communicate with all lenders, guarantee agencies, guarantors, and borrowers on one platform — so schools can focus on counseling students rather than managing technology.

Your Electronic Award is an interactive tool that streamlines the award process for students and financial aid professionals by replacing paper with a fully electronic process that is customized to reflect the specific college or university.

Sallie Mae’s Campus Gateway is a tool that lets financial aid professionals create their own customized website. Packaging all this information in one convenient point-of-service streamlines the process for families and financial aid professionals.

IT Training and Support: Sallie Mae works with schools to ensure our products integrate with their tools. Our implementation and quality assurance analysts shepherd the entire process. We offer staff training and production monitoring along with our CollegeServ and Electronic Services support for day-to-day questions and concerns.

Business Office Solutions

Sallie Mae Business Office Solutions offers flexible, scalable, and cost-effective solutions to help schools manage the business of education. From tuition payment plans to electronic billing and refund disbursements, Sallie Mae offers the support that financial aid, bursar's, and registrar's offices need.

Default aversion

Sallie Mae’s Asset Performance Group provides default prevention solutions to help schools manage their default rates. We reach out to students during their grace period and early stages of repayment. Alone, our Student Assistance Corporation (SAC) prevented more than $18 billion from defaulting in fiscal year 2006.

Perkins Loan servicing

Sallie Mae supports schools that offer the Federal Perkins Loan program by providing solutions for schools to incorporate Perkins into their financial aid packages.

Voices

“We were very pleased not only with the growth in enrollment but also with the improvements in our students' academic profile and in retention. I have served at a number of institutions and I can honestly say that the sophistication of our current enrollment approach far surpasses anything I have seen.”
