What to do if the FAFSA doesn't reflect your family's finances

Have recent changes in your family's finances made you question your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)?

What if the numbers don't add up?

If you feel the numbers on your FAFSA or SAR do not accurately reflect your family's budget, contact the college financial aid office.

These special circumstances could include:

  • High medical or dental expenses
  • Recent unemployment
  • Tuition expense for children attending a private elementary or secondary school

Your financial aid office is there to help you. In changed or unusual circumstances, your financial aid administrator can modify your financial aid package if they think circumstances warrant it.
