Sallie Mae International has loans for U.S. students who are ....
- Enrolled full time at a college or university abroad and are expecting to earn a degree abroad, or
- Studying abroad for a short time and expecting to earn a degree from a U.S. institution.
Federal Stafford loans are the most common source of education loan funds and are available to both graduate and undergraduate students.
You may apply for a Stafford student loan if you are a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen; a full- or half-time undergraduate or graduate student; and attending an eligible school. A credit check is not required.
The federally sponsored Parent PLUS loan is a low interest education loan for parents of undergraduate, dependent students.
With a Parent PLUS loan, a parent can fund the entire cost of a child's education (less student financial aid). You may apply for a PLUS if you are a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen and the parent of a full-time or half-time undergraduate dependent student attending an eligible school
Graduate or professional students may apply for a Federal Graduate PLUS loan. Students must be a U.S. or non-citizen permanent residents and must be attending graduate school at least half-time at an eligible institution.

Global Health Education Loan Program (GHELP)
If you are a U.S. student enrolled in a graduate health professions program at an eligible institution outside of the U.S., you may apply for the Global Health Education Loan Program (GHELP). GHELP can help cover the entire cost of your graduate health professions education. The program includes a federal Stafford loan, a private education loan, and a Residency and Relocation loan option for graduate medical students.
