We’re passionate about getting involved and giving back. Improving our communities means we’re making a difference in people’s futures and helping them on their way.
What we do
We strive to help create brighter futures
We work directly with non-profits, like Special Olympics, Junior Achievement, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and more, to help students, families, and individuals in our communities. Whether it’s collecting gifts to donate to local families, sorting and packaging books for kids, or packing meals for families in need, count us in.
We love to get involved
Teaching children, helping animals, improving the environment—we encourage our employees to participate in the volunteer activities they’re passionate about. The Sallie Mae Employee Volunteer Program gives full-time employees, in good standing, paid time off to volunteer in their community.

Why we volunteer
"Getting lost in a book is something every kid deserves. Helping make that happen for students—that’s something I'm proud to be part of."
- Rob Z., packages up books at Cradles to Crayons
"I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful these gifts are to the kids, young adults, and families who receive them, and I am proud to be part of a company so dedicated to helping those less fortunate."
– Matt S., collects gifts for local families with Big Brothers, Big Sisters
“Giving back is in my DNA. You never know where life will take you and I don't forget that. We can't exist in the world to only be consumers of everything—we must give back.”
– Essence S., serves up meals for families in need with Community Servings
